Education/Background

My name is Shannon Swikert and I am in my sixth year as the middle school science teacher at St. Paul. I have a BSc in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology from Centre College in Danville, Kentucky, a PhD in neuroscience from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, and a MA in Teaching from Thomas More University.

I am so excited to share my passion for science and love of learning with the students of St. Paul. When I am not in the classroom, I enjoy reading, which is a particularly useful hobby as I double as the school’s librarian. I am an avid hiker and volunteer monthly with the Red River Gorge Trail Crew; in fact, I recently earned my certification as a cross-cut sawyer. Although I did not grow up in Northern Kentucky, many of my family are St. Paul alumni.
