Education/Background

Teaching is truly my vocation. I can remember as a young child playing school and always being the teacher. I earned my teaching degree from Morehead State University and my Master’s Degree in Reading and Writing instruction from the University of Kentucky. I have taught high school special education in Lexington, Middle School Language Arts in Oldham County, and reading and writing classes to college freshmen and adults at Gateway Community College. Each of those teaching positions have helped me to refine my craft. This is my 24th year in education and my 8th year teaching middle school literature at St. Paul.  I am truly blessed to be teaching at St. Paul with some of the best educators that I have ever worked with.

When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. My husband, Kevin, and I have three children. Jacob is 26, Lucas is 23, and Gabby is 19. We also provide foster care and respite care though DCCH. We love to travel and spend time outdoors. Our favorite travel destinations are National Parks. We hope to eventually say that we’ve seen them all. I also love to read, cook, hike, walk my dogs, and lounge at the swimming pool.
